How to Choose the Right Wig Density | BoruiHair
How to Choose the Right Wig Density | BoruiHair
If you've ever shopped for real human hair lace wigs online, you've probably seen a parameter called "density."
Basically, the higher the density, the fuller the wig will look. But what really makes them different behind the scenes? Let's break it down.
Common density options:
Best Wig Density for Beginners
-
Number of Hair Bundles
A wig is made of hair bundles and a lace piece (like a closure or frontal). The lace piece is just one, but the number of hair bundles can change.
You might see 2 bundles + a lace piece, 3 bundles, 4, or even 5 bundles. Since hair bundles are sewn onto the wig cap and the space is limited, there's only so much you can fit.
If you usually only buy wigs and never tried hair bundles separately, check out how full 3–4 bundles look here:

The Grade of Hair Bundles
Hair bundles have grades like 9A, 10A, 12A, 14A, 18A, and 20A. What does that mean? It tells you the mix of hair lengths inside the bundle.
Hair bundle grade comparisonThe higher the grade, the more uniform the strands are. There's also something called SDD, which basically means almost every strand is the same length.
SDD hair bundle example Important NoteKeep in mind, there's no universal standard for these grades. So two vendors' "12A" bundles can actually be pretty different.

Length of the Lace Piece
The lace piece itself also affects how full the wig looks once it's on your head.
Common Mistakes When Picking Density
-
Wanting a 40-inch wig but picking a low density
One hair bundle usually weighs around 100g. If the hair is super long, the bundle has to be thinner to keep the weight the same.
So a long wig with low density can end up looking really thin. To get a full look for 40-inch hair, you might need 4–6 bundles.
-
Buying the "same density" from different vendors
Every seller has their own way of calculating density and grading bundles. One 200% density human hair lace wig might be 380g, another might be only 280g.
So before you buy, make sure you know the wig's actual weight and structure. Even better, ask for real videos of the wig.
At boruihair, most wigs have density-specific videos you can check here:

Chasing the highest density only
Some people always go for the highest density, but low-density wigs have their perks:
They're lightweight.
Super comfortable to wear.
Easy to put on.
Their lower density makes them look really natural.
They're very breathable, so your scalp can easily breathe.
Before buying, always reach out to the seller. Confirm the weight and structure for the density you want. Ask for a real, unedited video if possible. That way, you're much more likely to get a wig you'll actually love.
